What works

Everything except what's mentioned in the "What does not work" category.

What does not

  1. Some objects are untextured; they are still faintly visible due to shading. Examples are furniture, doors, and catwalks (the latter of which may cause some frustration).

  2. Movies do not work; Wine will complain about "Unable to render file. Failed to set message drain." These can be skipped but cutscenes immediately after the movies are (incorrectly) skipped as well.

  3. Menu text is displayed in two sizes at two distinct viewports (one is the stretched fullscreen viewport, the other is a 1:1 viewport at the top-left corner). Each viewport shares a part of the total menu text.

  4. There is the small possibility of a significant FPS drop (giving around 0.5 FPS), along with distorted audio and sound, during some more intense scenes (happened once, during the deathmatch with the first Kestrel).

Workarounds

What was not tested

Everything after Club Strages (what a great dance floor, by the way).

Additional Comments

1. Make sure to install the 32-bit version of Wine's required libraries. Without these, I experienced no sound (no sound card was detected by the game). 2. Press ENTER to skip broken movies. 3. Use your Dragons to illuminate untextured paths - their muzzle flash will make them briefly visible. 4. If your camera is continuously going up (or down), consider de-maximising the window, or ALT-TAB out of and back into the game. 5. I managed to go from windowed to fullscreen in-game, though I'm not sure how it happened. Usually, I have window borders around the game window. Computer: Sony VAIO VPCEB4Z1E, unmodified. ATI Radeon Mobility 5600 series, using open-source drivers. Latest Arch Linux, with XFCE4 desktop manager. Dual-boot with Windows 7.
