Additional Comments

To get rid of micro-stuttering disable glsl (winetricks glsl=disabled) To fix mouse force MouseWarpOverride (winetricks mwo=force) And now - the main thing about sound. You have to use pulseaudio for proper sound mixing. Otherwise (with plain ALSA) there's mess with channels e.g. when you're using stereo, your headphones work as side channels of 5.1 system, so you can't hear sounds right in front of you and right behind of you. I spent 3 days to find this solution. For x64 systems don't forget to install lib32-libpulse, launch it (pulseaudio --start) and then change audio source in winecfg. (In my case it's called Built-in analog stereo). Another bug with guns being too quite can be fixed by replacing some ini files from the previous version of the game. Look here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=322637977 For now, that's all. Game played on highest settings in dx9 mode (1920x1080) No crashes, No glitches. I3 4130 3.4GHz GeForce 9600GSO ALC887 integrated audio chip 4gb ram Good luck!

HowTo / Notes

Choppy sound fix
2015-04-20 Admin note: the following was extracted from a user comment made in 2014 and may not be relevant to current Wine.

I fixed it by changing my systems pulse audio sampling frequency to 44100 Hz, it was 48 kHz before.
