Fresh wineprefix, set to "emulate virtual desktop, 2048x1152", installed the "usual suspects" (d3dx9, d3dx10,d3dx11,d3dx943,dotnet30,physx,vcrun2008,vcrun2010,xinput), installed Steam (famous "-no-dwrite", see https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19444), installed the game just fine. After clicking "play" in Steam: 'Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xcdcdcdcd in 32-bit code (0x102923df).'
