Additional Comments

Having tried many things, I've found a way to get it to work. It requires the XACT sound dlls and will fail without them, so do "winetricks xact". I also recommend doing "winetricks d3dx9_42" since the game lags without it. The game did not work without WMVCore.DLL and WMASF.DLL , which installing windows media player 10 is supposed to provide, but did not work for me. I have acquired them from dll-files.com (which appear to provide the Windows 7 version of these files) and placed them in the executable's directory. The game also requires a codec of some sort installed. None of the codecs provided by winetricks worked for me, nor did any of the codec packs recommended on steam. I have however, found a lot of posts in chinese describing the same symptoms I was having and suggesting a codec pack which can be obtained here: http://www.wmzhe.com/soft-13163.html Don't worry, the installer is in english. After that I set my windows version to 7 and created a virtual desktop the size of my resolution (that step is probably optional). After that the game worked, though, whenever the game tries to play a video, it is "ejected" into separate window to play it in. I had to click in the main window to skip them. It seems the game tries to play a video as the main menu's background, so clicking the main window nets you with a black background. As I've mentioned, I couldn't get sound to work in videos. So to summarize, the steps I have taken are: 1. winetricks xact d3dx9_42 2. download WMVCore.DLL and WMASF.DLL from dll-files.com (or your Win7 installation) and place them in the same directory as the executable 3. download and install the codec pack from http://www.wmzhe.com/soft-13163.html 4. set windows version to 7 and activated virtual desktop with same size as actual desktop 5. started playing
