Train Simulator

What works

Game runs allowing trains to be driven along the routes. TSX graphics work provided GLSL is enabled, otherwise get very strange graphics. Used package manager to install 3rd party routes. This requires .NET 4.0 to be installed. Did not try packager (only required if you need to distribute your own routes). Used the route editor briefly to edit a route I had previously made in TS2013.

What does not

If Google Earth overlay is used (CTRL G in the World editor) it will display an overlay, but lock the system up soon after. This makes the route editor impossible to use with the overlay. The route editor works fine as long as you don't turn on the overlay.

MAINTAINER EDIT: ***Please note that this was tested in Wineskin Winery, not regular Wine.*** If you don't require the Google Earth overlay, then the rating would be Silver. Use Winetricks to install the following. Steam MSXML3 d3dx9_43 d3d9_compiler_43 Vcrun2010 In Winetricks settings run heapcheck otherwise the game will crash. .NET 4.0 if you need to use the packager/package manager (utilities.exe) Internet Explorer 8 (plays ads during game loading and enables Google Earth overlay), not needed otherwise. Install TS2014 in Steam but do not run the game yet. It needs to be the latest version, older versions needed Flash activeX. Navigate to C:Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\Railworks and delete the 'installscript.vdf' file. This stops Steam installing the files installed in Wine as above. The game can then be run. Do not stop the video playing the first time the game is run, otherwise some game files may not be downloaded. To use TSX graphics use Winetricks to enable GLSL, otherwise graphics will be very odd.
