What works

  • Fresh install.
  • Upgrade (7.0.64 --> 7.4.36)
  • CPU details correctly identified.
  • Proxy detected from environment.
  • 2x SETI@Home Beta WU completed (7.0.64) (failing validation on all platforms).
  • 2x SETI@Home Beta WU completed (7.4.36) (failing validation on all platforms).
  • 2x SETI@Home WU completed (7.4.36).
  • Einstein@Home WU completed and validated (7.4.36).
  • Uninstall, though it claims to be upgrading.

What does not

  • SETI@Home graphics, though probably due to X over SSH session.
  • Priority (niceness) not set.
  • boincmgr takes far too long to connect.
  • Telling the installer to print the license agreement doesn't do anything at all (see 32-bit for how this differs).
  • Service install.
  • Need to use wine64 uninstaller instead of just wine uninstaller.

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • SIMAP (project temporarily unavailable).
  • GPU crunching (no GPGPU available).
  • Attaching to project manager.
  • Virtualbox.

Additional Comments

Upgrading 32-bit to 64-bit simply installs both versions. I don't know if this happens in Windows too. Tested running X over SSH. No overrides. HowTo / Notes

BOINC is available for your platform

BOINC is available for a wide array of platforms, and a lot of platforms are supported by the projects. You are probably better off asking a project to support your platform than using Wine to translate Windows calls.

It should be possible to use a native BOINC and run a Windows executable with Wine if absolutely necessary.

Test results for BOINC are still welcome as they help developers with Wine.
