Was able to get the settings manager on Unity's website running
What does not
Pretty much everything
What was not tested
There are dozens of web applications that use Unity web Player, I only tested BattleStar Galactica online and whatever I mentioned above
I only got the above mentioned apps working after I had replaced the Unity folder on my wine prefix with one from Virtual box where it supposedly had updated the files. The only difference was the existence of a new "mono" directory and "player" directory in the Webplayer directory. The "player" directory seems to contain the "stable" 3.5 release of Unity that working web apps seem to use. I'm still disappointed that BattleStar Galactica Online doesn't work. It seems that Unity needs to fetch these additional files not included with the standard installer in order to run most, if not all, apps. So the work around would be to find some means to fetch these files and place them in the correct directory.
