Both h3hota HD.exe and h3hota.exe launch normally.

Anything but launch with h3hota.exe (non-HD version). 

Traditional multiplayer connection methods, i.e. Hot Seat, IPX, TCP/IP, Modem and Direct Connect. 

Any campaign mission beyond first one of each campaign.

How-To

TCP/IP Multiplayer

Follow these steps to get traditional TCP/IP multiplayer working:

1. Install directplay dlls as described here.

1.1 Manual install is also possible. Steps are:

  1. Place the following dplayx.dll, dpnet.dll, dpnhpast.dll, dpwockx.dll, dplaysvr.exe in your .wine/drive_c/windows/system32
  2. Set those files to overwrite (native, builtin) in winecfg

2. Remove DPWSOCKX.DLL  from the core game folder (where the .exe files are located). 

This workaround was suggested and is described in detail in the comment to a related bug report.
