What works

Just about everything works.

The installer ran just fine, provided I used a 64-bit prefix, which I created in

/home/seann/.adobe_wine

The following winetricks served me well:

winetricks --force msxml3 atmlib riched20 riched30 msxml6 gdiplus dotnet45 quicktime76 xvid wmp9 corefonts fontsmooth=rgb gdiplus flash win81

While the following had to be downloaded and installed to the prefix manually:

  • Adobe AIR
  • Microsoft vcrun6sp6 (x86)
  • Microsoft VC 2005 Redist both x86 & x64
  • Microsoft VC 2008 Redist both x86 & x64
  • Microsoft VC 2010 Redist both x86 & x64
  • Microsoft VC 2012 Redist both x86 & x64
  • Microsoft VC 2013 Redist both x86 & x64

Tested most of the CS6 apps, and they installed and ran fine, with the minor exception of Adobe Fireworks.

What does not

Adobe Fireworks failed to install. The installer log shows a "File Not Found" error for AdobeFireworks12-mul\OEM(Seq 2141) and AdobeFireworks12en_USLanguagePack\OEM(Seq 76) but I'm not sure if that's from running under WINE or if my DVD was defective.

I also encountered a problem getting started with winetricks where VCRUNxxxx verbs sometimes conflicted, and needed to be manually installed because it didn't do them in the right order, which may have been due to an outdated version of winetricks.

Rather than expend effort to investigate, I simply deleted the original prefix and made a fresh one and manually updated winetricks to version 20200412-next, manually installed the 32-bit and 64-bit VC Redists as outlined above (in their correct order), then the CS6 installer ran fine (again, except for Fireworks), and the subsequently installed apps all worked.

Additional Comments

I would rate higher than Silver, as all it took was a little effort.
