Playing the game works with no issues so far.
What does not
The problem is the crappy Uplay installer they ship with their Steam version. You can't enter the activation key because some tiny error window pops up. (You then have to kill that process. The name is something with tmp and it doesn't have exe in the name.) Without registration you can't play the game.
I came up with the workaround from similar Windows issues. So it's for the most part not only related to wine. I used a guide from a forum located here: https://www.annothek.net/wbb4/... (Use the files at your own risk!)
To start the game run wine Anno5.exe, wait some time and then kill it. Then it should start the game and everything should run.
