What works

Naturalreader 10, Application will appear to install correctly, via Wine A Naturalreader voice will appear to install correctly. On initial start, a popup will inform to first time users: open with administrator. (opening with administrator does nothing) (must use open with wineloader to get things started) On initial start, a popup will inform that no voice was detected and to install one. The application will come up providing, you click on application icon @ bottom right of screen. This would be after the initial Desktop Icon start, which brings up the Icon in the lower right hand of screen.

What does not

Unable to install a voice that will be recognized. Also a default voice is normal when installed in Windows. This default voice is always present even if no additional paid Naturalreader voice is installed. The normal default voice is MS Anna. Since this is being installed in Linux Mint 13, I am assuming there is no default Windows OS voice to hook into. Either way, installing an addition voice does not work. As mentioned in, "What Works", section. The application will come up providing, you click on application icon @ bottom right of screen. This would seem to bring up a double instance of the Application, however, only one will load, and the instance started from a Desktop Icon never actually completes. You will find a loaded instance of Naturalreader 10 in the System Monitor, and when the application does load, you will also find there is no audio present within the application itself, by looking at its settings.

Additional Comments

Seems to be a lot of folks who would like a good TTS application. Naturalreader works and sounds superb in Windows. I believe Linux users would love this app if it ran under Wine. There is also a MAC version, so perhaps that might also be helpful. I understand Windows. Relatively new to Linux and want to stay committed to it. Not a Unix or Linux heavyweight though.
