HowTo / Notes

Update March 3, 2018

As of March 3rd, 2018 the Trove application can be run on Linux Systems, but you will not be able to get past the splash-screen.

The Trove application cannot be played due to the following reasons:

  • The way that the Glyph installer authenticates a Trove session requires that Trove is started by the Glyph launcher. Therefore, if you start the Trove executable file and are able to get Trove running, you will get an authentication error at the splash-screen.
  • Receive the most common error "This game requires at least Windows Vista to run." on clicking the "Install" button.
  • You are not running an Intel or AMD-based processor and cannot support 32-bit or/and 64-bit architectures.

1. How to get Trove Running on Linux

    Requirements:

  •     A computer capable of running Windows. NOT WINE
  •     A Linux computer to test Trove on that has WINE INSTALLED (preferably the latest stable-build)
  •     Cloud-based storage or usb storage to transfer files
  1.     First, go over to your Windows computer and download and install the Glyph installer from https://www.trionworlds.com/gl...
  2.     After you have Glyph installed, run Glyph and install Trove.
  3.     Now, navigate from your c: drive to Program Files (x86)
  4.     From here, find the folder named Glyph and copy it.
  5.     Either paste the Glyph folder onto your usb drive, or upload it to the cloud file service of your choice.
  6.     If you chose a usb drive, eject it safely from your Windows computer and insert it into the Linux computer you want to install Trove. If you used a cloud file service, download the the file from the cloud.
  7.     Wherever your Glyph file is located, copy and paste it into your folder Programs (x86) located in /.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)
  8. Now for the moment of truth, navigate to the Glyph folder, then in Games, Trove, and right-click on Trove.exe and select run with Wine.
  9. If Trove starts you've done everything properly, congratulations!

Once again, I'd like to note that you will not be able to get past the splash-screen, however this method is definitely a step in the right direction!

As I continue development on this project, I will keep this page updated, thank you and have a beautiful evening!
