What works

Tested with steam play proton.

It installs and appears to work well, except for (midi) background music.

Other audio effects works (such as menu selection).

What does not

Midi background music doesn't work, but easy to fix (see below).

Workarounds

In terminal run:

WINEPREFIX="/steamapps/compatdata/39150/pfx" winetricks directmusic

Please substitute to the actual path where your steam directory is located, on Arch it's ~/.local/share/Steam/ or ~/.steam/steam

Then run:

WINEPREFIX="/steamapps/compatdata/39150/pfx" winecfg

and set dsound to builtin.

Unknown exception occured
by Eric Williams on Tuesday June 28th 2016, 22:52
I am continuing to get errors when entering card games.

Running Wine 1.8.rc4

*have set msvcirt to "native only"
*Prior to launching game, I access winetricks and install directmusic

The background music will play, but it'll freeze immediately. I have a backtrace saved which I can share, but I don't want to post it here as I believe that goes in the "bugs" section.

Any thoughts?

Today, I use wine 1.9.0.
I have install D3dX9, 10 11, devnum, xinput, gdiplus, steamci and some other modules.
I do'nt use msvcirt.
Wine is configurer to be winXP compatible.

My graphic card is an Nvidia 9600GT with the proprio-drivers.

Excuse me for mi poor english.

I hope it will be usefull.

Unknown exception

I keep getting "Unknown Exception occurred" at launch. However, the game starts (albeit slowly) if I try with WINEDEBUG=relay, so difficult to debug. Heisenbug :/

I traced it to a crash in MSVCRT_log. winetricks vcrun6 + winecfg => set msvcrt to native only fixed it.
Directmusic
by koebjuli on Wednesday May 28th 2014, 3:22
Hi
I have the exact same problems with the background music and battles, etc. and apparently I have to download direct music with wine tricks. But I have no idea how to do that, or like where I have to install it. Can somebody help me please?
Thanks!

Open your Linux terminal window/console and write: winetricks directmusic
(winetricks should have been installed along with Wine itself)

As Written above you have to run Wineskin and find DirectMusic in winetricks. Then if you have an error that stop the game you have to set msvcrt in Native, always in Wineskin
