Additional Comments

Shows an error about .NET 4.0 on launch (although runs fine despite it). Some particle effects (most notably the power plant smoke) appear broken. Loading screens aren't animated as intended. May freeze when switching to the next mission (session's first game always loads fine), and does not properly stop when the window is closed, requiring a process manager (or just "killall Tropico4.exe") to end it. Freeze can be visually identified by the cursor changing from a waiting "stopwatch" to a normal arrow.

Arrow keys don't work

I can get the game to install and run, but the escape key doesn't do anything, and the arrow keys don't scroll. I've seen people complain about this on Windows also, but don't know of a solution. Anyone?

Disable Steam overlay

When I got to the "create a profile" screen, the first keystroke crashed the game. Installing d3dx9 and dotnet35 and most importantly disabling the Steam overlay fixed this. I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm also using Windows 8 mode.

As mentioned in the addition comments, .NET and DirectX are required to play. It's a point about the Steam Overlay, I habitually turn it off.

Why are you running this in WINE if you're using Windows? How does that effect your environment?
