Sun's 1.5.0 release
This version introduced generic types and some new C-friendly I/O calls. The Sun JRE for Linux is even better-integrated with GNOME than before, but we're not trying to run the Linux runtime...

- Any Java application seems to throw an exception, which Java prints
out correctly. Several fairly simple applications were tested and did
not work at all.
What was not tested
- An exhaustive effort has not been made to find the simplest possible application that does work.
