In a virtual desktop (1280x1024) everything worked well.
I used the GOG version of PST and followed their mod guide: http://www.gog.com/news/mod_spotlight_planescape_torment_mods_guide
Before applying the mods you need to uninstall GOG's WineD3D mod. They are using it to support recent Windows versions, but it causes cursor artifacts in Wine.
What does not
I could not increase the resolution any further, because the game got too slow (it utilizes only one core). I do not know if the performance is better in Windows.
There were occasional crashes every few hours, but PST is know to be buggy even running on windows.
