Since version 3.99 it has been essential to specify WINEDLLOVERRIDES="atl=n" in order to get the app to start.
wine version 20050419 (the latest at this writing) and all earlier versions that I have tested allow the "Bridge Engine" component to work. That means you can review bridge movie files, etc.
But the best part, playing or watching online bridge, is still unavailable. In fact that goal seems farther away now than before. Previously you could enter the Main Bridge Club or a tournament in progress and you would get a "waiting for response from server" message that never goes away. That looked like an interthread communication problem.
Now you are locked in the "lobby" when you log on and cannot go anywhere.
