What works
Installation works without problems.
Menus work fine.
Sound (music) in menus works fine.
Flying works fine, but only with all sounds turned off (read below).
What does not
The two short intro videos do not show up and produce error messages which need to be confirmed by clicking OK and pressing SPACE. (These videos can be made available by installation of the WINETRICKS codecs. However, they are a little bit annoying so there is really no need for this.)
IN-GAME SOUND ISSUES: At present, flying any of the missions requires to DISABLE ALL SOUNDS first, otherwise FLANKER will crash.
GRAPHICS: Cockpit MFD screen and mirrors do not work as intended (mirrors show plain black, MFD in TV-mode also). This seems to be a DirectX-related problem.
Workarounds
What was not tested
Joystick support.
Multiplayer mode.

The following is a short description of how to make Flanker launching. Simply install the recent wine Version. No patches are needed to make Flanker running. Install the game hereafter. Now open the registry editor.
Navigate: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER-->Software-->Wine-->Direct3D" Set the value of "DirectDrawRenderer" to "opengl".
(see UsefullRegistryKeys)
Otherwise wine will complain that you need to do so ;) Now you can succsessfully launch the game.
The game now launches if you follow the instructions in the HOWTO note. In the main menu the mouse seems to be very slow and laggy. It is hard to hit the right button. The lag of the mouse can be decreased by starting the game with "WINEDEBUG=-all wine Flanker.exe"
In the main menu the mouse now runs fluently but still not in the options menu, there it is laggy again.
Another issue that appears is, that after a mission load the game will freeze. So the game is not playable yet.
