Got fixed randomly by a game patch
Changes to the settings are not applied.

If I want to adjust something at the settings no matter what then it will not be taken over.
not unity
by sdaems on Sunday November 30th 2014, 5:28
I don't think it has to do with Unity, i run awesome wm and get the same error.
I also get it before i can start the game, at the loading screen after clicking new game.

Both when running steam from wine, as when running the forest from wine.

i have a 64bit arch

Hi again,

>"normally you should not see the correct graphics with OffscreenRenderingMode set to backbuffer like in the linked video"
Sry, if i'm wrong, but this means to me: I see the wrong graphics if i set the OffscreenRenderingMode to backbuffer?

i'm sure, that i have set the correct setting in the registry, but i'll try it again in the afternoon.

Can you please post your other settings in the registry or in wine, so i can compare them to mine?

Thanks.

This is correct but currently it is better as seeing nothing.

I have set Wine to Windows 7 and I have also set VideoMemorySize to 2048 to avoid beeing capped at a lower value (commonly 256 MiB).

I have these settings: i.imgur.com/yASkQuv.png

There is no difference to my video, if i use them. I first understood that you were seeing the full game.

If you have any other tips, feel free.

Problem with ground/objects on ground
by Real Name on Saturday September 27th 2014, 12:29
As someone else on the steam forums mentioned it seems to happen as soon as you see ground texture or special ground objects.

By looking up and changing some graphic settings(vsync for example) you suddenly see graphics.
But if you turn down your view it suddenly all becomes black with HUD.

If you walk around and get killed and awake in a cave you won't have that problem anymore(after changing settings) ... atleast until you exit the cave, then the same problems happen again.

I was trying to figure out what produces that problem but only was partically able to reproduce it.

i was checking for WINED3D_RS_ALPHABLENDENABLE in the d3d9_device_SetRenderState in d3d9/device.c of wine:
if(state == WINED3D_RS_ALPHABLENDENABLE){
return D3D_OK;
}
Its NO workaround but might help to reproduce the problem because the change of graphic option is not needed anymore.
You will see some other graphic glitches(like black skin,unreadable text) because of the change - but thats not the point.
The point is that you can figure out what produces the problems:
When inside the plane and looking directly to ground: no problem.
When outside and look to ground: suddenly all black.
When outside look at sky: see trees,birds and other objects.
When outside crouching on a stone and looking directly to ground: no problem.

My guess is that it has something to do with transparent "2d"-objects like grass.
Sadly i have no clue how to simply deactivate those objects as a workaround.
I know there must be a way to make this game work because i had no problems in version 0.4.
I believe the problem started at version 0.5 .

It seems this issue is the same as bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35718. A workaround is to set OffscreenRenderingMode to backbuffer in Software\\Wine\\Direct3D but this causes the game to look like it has too many contrast.

Hi, the workaround isn't working for me. I have version 0.08 Alpha. I have also tested to turn the glsl shaders off.

I hope somebody can help me.

My System:

Archlinux 3.16.4-1-ARCH
wine-1.7.28
Nvidia driver: 343.22

Here is a video of the current state:

I'm also using Wine 1.7.28 and a NVIDIA graphics card and normally you should not see the correct graphics with OffscreenRenderingMode set to backbuffer like in the linked video. Are you sure that this setting is correctly taking effect?

This looks correct and I have no idea why it doesn't work for you.
