Actually using wine v1.9.15-staging, to access the d3d command stream patches to improve performance. Tested and working flawlessly on an AMD Radeon R9 290. Tested wine v1.9.16 - v1.9.19, and the game wouldn't start, black screen. Follow these steps and the game will work well without any video stuttering or tearing: 1. 32-bit wine only. 2. winetricks dotnet20 dotnet40 xact_jun2010 d3dx9 (borrowed from the other helpful appdb post) 3. In the staging tab of winecfg (which is only available in the -staging versions of wine), check the box "Enable CSMT for better graphic performance". 4. To get rid of the horrible constant video stuttering whenever the camera is panning around, I noticed that higher video settings surprisingly helped a bit, but to make it fully go away, I had to open amdcccle and set all the 3D settings to their maximum or highest-quality settings. I tried other methods to reduce the stuttering such as just enabling vsync, reducing video settings to much lower values, and a Windows-specific trick of using a controller and unplugging any other USB input devices. These other methods didn't work and the lower video settings seemed to make the stuttering and overall performance worse for some reason.
