Maxthon can't be used without installing ie8; with ie8 installed, webpages (and even the option page) plink ad disappear after some seconds after that are loaded, so mathon is however unusable

if there isn't ie8 installed maxthon shows a blank screen with the error message "Missing: sidebar/index.htm Missing: layout.htm" and can't be used, and even the installer has serious graphical problems. So you have to do this in order to use maxthon: 1) "rm ~/.wine" 2) "WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine winecfg" and press ok 3) "winetricks ie8" and follow the instructions to install ie8 4) install Maxthon, wait for Maxthon to crash after install, and close it 5) Open Maxthon from desktop icon
