Additional Comments
The ability to create a new database broke in 1.7.23. It worked fine in 1.7.22. Something to do with password encrypted databases with the Access 2010 database engine.

These are simply what worked for me, running Arch Linux and wine-stable 2.0.3 and TntConnect 3.4.3 They are generalized from what others have used for Ubuntu as well. I will assume you have winetricks installed. If you use Dropbox, this works fine with the standard Linux Dropbox client.
Create a 32-bit wine prefix:
env WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.tntconnect WINEARCH=win32 winecfg
Install RichEdit 3.0 libraries (I needed this anyways, otherwise fonts were not readable in the notes sections.)
env WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.tntconnect winetricks riched30
Install TntConnect:
env WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.tntconnect wine SetupTntConnect.exe
