What works

• PDF and JPG recognition, tested also on 399 pages document
• Coping
• Saving

What does not

If app crashes for some reason, it's subprocesses (FineExec.exe) keep working and wasting system resources so they need to be killed manually. It not occurs when exiting normally.

Workarounds

You need a 32-bit wineprefix (WINEPREFIX=~/.finereader12 WINEARCH=win32 wine /path/to/executable), on 64-bit it will stuck forewer during recognition

You need to install MSXML6 (winetricks msxml6)

Also you need winebind (apt install winebind)

What was not tested

• Scanner
• Windows and office integration
• ScreenReader
• Activation

Graphics:

• GPU: Nvidia
• Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

I used repack installer so I'm not sure will official installer works and I can't provide additional info due to copyrights. You may install it on Windows and run on wine

Windows version was set to 7, but not sure does it make sense

Large documents recognition takes quite much time
