installation was not working out-of-the-box tried with wine 1.6.2 first, starting setup.exe of VPinMAME via terminal reported: fixme:ddraw:DirectDrawEnumerateExA flags 0x00000003 not handled fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32d358,0x00000000), stub! Solution found on appdb.winehq: Type wine regedit in a terminal. Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Wine / Direct3D or create it if it doesn't exist. Now you have to add two new keys.DirectDrawRenderer with the string value opengl and VideoMemorySize with the string value of you graphic memory size, for example 512 or 256. I entered 1024 as value. The DMD window is shown, but falls back the screen when playing full-screen. Changing to a non-full-screen resolution works, you can then have the DMD window overlapping to the game. To change the size of the DMD, „show window title“ has to be set by right-click. If you remove this setting after resizing the window, it falls back to original size – so leave it on.
