What works

Everything (networking hasn't been tested)

What does not

1. The default 64-bit Wine environment did not work (had to create it using WINEARCH=win32).

2. The intro "It's in the game" videos need (I think, based on research) lib32-gst-plugins-ugly to play*, but that component is currently not compiling due to an upstream issue. However, I prefer not having those intro videos.

* - the gst error I get is: Missing decoder: MPEG-1 System Stream (video/mpeg, systemstream=(boolean)true, mpegversion=(int)1)

mfc42.dll is needed (as reported by the previous tester).  I tested both the winetricks version as well as copying the Win10x64 SysWow64 version (also copied mfc42u.dll)

What was not tested

Networking modes

Hardware tested

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

1. I was able to install this using the normal 'wine start {absolute path outside of the install media}' method a year ago on a laptop (which did have the setup hang reported by

another tester, but the game couldn't run due to its graphics), but I could never get my desktop to recognize the next disc.  What I did was to copy the first two discs (INSTALL

and MEDIA) into a hard drive folder with the third (COURSES) in the disk drive, and then run the Setup.exe.  This allowed it to run the entire install at once and without hanging.

INSTALL is needed in the disc drive to play the game.

2. I had to use a 32-bit Wine environment (created using WINEARCH=win32)

3. Audio was choppy and distorted until (I think) installing fluidsynth (this games uses MIDI)

4. Video settings weren't saving at first, but then later did, inexplicably

5. There are some minor graphical anomalies mostly related to golf club motion shadows, but I'm not sure if Windows didn't also have this
