I used winetricks to install steam in a new 64-bit wineprefix, and applied a few workarounds as mentioned below. My results are similar to tahm's previous results, screenshots attached.
What does not
Most UI elements, units, rare resources and other map placements are all invisible.
However gameplay works if you can correctly guess where the UI is.
