Once installed via work around the Java software I was testing (FirstRate 5) worked perfectly.
Tested both the 32 bit and 64 bit installer from https://www.java.com/en/downlo...
What does not
Just running the installer will result in no window appearing. In the list of processes you will see two wine jre-8u241-windows-x64" processes which you will need to forcibly terminate. If you try to run again without terminating you will get an error that a installer is already running.
Set the winecfg Windows version to XP and run the installer with "/s" switch for silent install:
wine jre-8u241-windows-x64.exe /s
You will see a bunch of console output but eventually the process will finish.
What was not tested
Other applications then FirstRate 5.
Had the same issue on Wine 4.0.3 and 5.0.0 after I updated Wine.
