Test Results

Old test results
The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results

What works

  • Single user install.
  • Shared install.
  • Proxy detected from environment.
  • 4x Milkyway@Home WUs completed and validated.
  • boincmgr (local and remote).
  • boinccmd (remote).
  • Uninstall, though it claims to be upgrading.

What does not

  • BOINC detects incorrect CPU details (running a Xeon but detects a P4).
  • Priority (niceness) not set.
  • Printing the licence agreement fails and wordpad remains in memory.
  • Service install. The installer asks for credentials. Entering the details (faked seen as it's Wine) and pressing Next doesn't do anything.

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • Upgrade.
  • Anything multi-core or multi-threaded (don't know if possible in this version) though both processors were used simultaneously by different WUs.
  • Other projects.
  • Attaching to project manager.
  • Screensaver.

Additional Comments

There may be an alignment issue in "Simple view" with the boxes. The installer appears to be 32-bit and even installs in "Program Files (x86)". I don't think the 5.x 64-bit branch were ever released as stable. It is able to process 64-bit WUs. Tested using X over SSH. No overrides. HowTo / Notes

BOINC is available for your platform

BOINC is available for a wide array of platforms, and a lot of platforms are supported by the projects. You are probably better off asking a project to support your platform than using Wine to translate Windows calls.

It should be possible to use a native BOINC and run a Windows executable with Wine if absolutely necessary.

Test results for BOINC are still welcome as they help developers with Wine.
