HowTo / Notes

Installation requirement
Requires Visual Basic 6 run-time files (winetricks -q vb6run).
Command-line usage

The command-line syntax is:

wine jsMSIx.exe <MSI file path>[|<extraction directory>]

It doesn't work if a path to the MSI is not supplied (relative or absolute).  The path is not required for the optional target directory but if not specified, and the directory doesn't exist, the MSI contents will be extracted to the directory of the MSI file.  Note that the vertical bar separator will require quotes to keep the shell from interpreting it as a pipe.

Bug
If an MSI file contains files with a root location then jsMSIx will extract them to c:\ instead of the specified target directory.
