Additional Comments

Tried following Paul Sands' instructions, and came close to getting it working. Assumed that the file needed for dotnet 4 was mscoree.dll not mscree.dll. I googled mscree.dll and only got hits for mscoree.dll. Got a copy from my old winxp laptop and put it in drive_c/windows/system32. Quicken install worked ok. I copied all the files from the CD to a local drive and then had to do chmod 0777 install.exe to get it to start. Ran: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.quicken [/path to installer]/install.exe At end of installer there is a check box to start up quicken. Uncheck it. I didn't, but quicken won't run until you change default windows version with winecfg to windows xp or vista. To do that run winecfg: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.quicken winecfg To start up quicken I used: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.quicken ~/.wine.quicken/drive_c/Program\ Files/Quicken/qw.exe Don't forget the back slash before the space in "Program Files" or it will fail. Initial run of quicken asked for intuit user name and password, then registration info. All seemed to be going well and then window just closed. Ran again. This time it prompted me for passwords to unlock data file and password vault, and then it crashed. Next time around it prompted me for first password, then I briefly saw my all quicken data on screen briefly, and then I got a black screen. I minimized quicken and then couldn't get it back again. I saw that qw.exe was chewing up nearly 100% of my CPU, so I killed it. Then went back to winecfg and set it to run in a window instead of full screen. Quicken 2012 needed this, so I'm hoping that this helps. This time when I got to the second password prompt to do online update I selected "skip" but quicken crashed and window disappeared. Hoping that this was just a random thing I tried again, but couldn't get past the second prompt without quicken crashing. I tried installing ie6 but that made no difference. That didn't fix it. Now I'm stuck. I get to the second password prompt reliably, but quicken crashes regardless of whether I enter a password and click on Update Now or Settigns or Skip. I see my data on screen briefly before the second password prompt, but the program just crashes every time when I try to get past the password dialog.
