Runs WriteNow 4.0, a word processor.
Prints to pdf files, using PrintToPDF chooser extension
What does not
Acrobat 5 won't launch.
Photoshop 5.0 won't launch, needs PowerPC emulator
I don't think Sound worked in Windows, and doesn't in Wine (for example no system beeps)
Associated program GemXplor.exe for transfering files from the .hfx and .dsk simulated Mac disks to the Windows desktop doesn't work, even if one creates a default Windows desktop in Wine.
What was not tested
Never tested serial port access or CD-ROM access.
Have not tried adding files directly to the emulated HD's .dsk or .hfx files yet.
Having run it in Windows first, did not need to create a new system disk, but merely copied the SoftMac folder into .wine/drive_c/Program Files. So cannot say how hard to do this is in Linux. One can also create bootable SoftMac "disks" on a classic Mac, using disk image program.
To install, just unzip the files into a folder inside C/Program Files. There is good support on the emulators.com site for setting softmac up. I had many Trax files, which are not standard midi. Able to export to midi using Trax on SoftMac in Wine. It's worth noting that Passport Designs (now Gvox) does not support this conversion in their newer software.
