Played through the entire game.
What does not
Sounds gets distorted after some time (~1 hour); need to restart the game to fix it. Not ideal, but playable.
Workarounds
To get it to work I did:
winetricks xact d3dx9_42 d3dcompiler_42 xact
Lots of people commenting you need to copy the D3DCompiler_42.dll to the game directory; the one from winetricks didn't work, or maybe I used the wrong one. I got the DirectX June 2010 from the Microsoft website and did (in the game directory):
cabextract directx_Jun2010_redist.exe
cabextract Aug2009_D3DCompiler_42_x86.cab
After which it started.
