Most users say that the main selling point of FL Studio is the workflow and interface, which is geared towards putting the user's creativity first.
MIDI input and soundcard output work.
The step (drum) editor works.
Pianoroll editor and mixer work.
What does not
The plugin picker doesn't work.
Sometimes it freezes up if the mouse is clicked while it is busy.
When this happens, it has to be forced to quit using a Task Manager.
CPU drag seems to be pretty heavy. Some demo songs couldn't be played due to CPU overload. Certain CPU relief settings are suspected of not working in Wine.
What was not tested
IL Downloader download functions weren't tested.
The full version of FL Studio was not tested, just the intermediate fruity edition.
The testbed system OS was Ubuntu Studio v14.04.3 LTS, which has a low-latency kernel. The installer and main application work. Beforehand, the registration code should be imported ed via RegEdit (launched from a console). The main application is dependent upon the Microsoft Core Fonts, to be installed in C:\Windows\Fonts. Better latency results seem possible with the FL Studio ASIO driver selected than with standard ASIO or PulseAudio. Select "(system default)" in WineConfig's Audio tab. JACK was not tested.

The FL Studio UI can sometimes go haywire if you workspaces in your desktop environment - the audio engine works and events are handled (for example, space still plays/pauses the project) but the UI is frozen.
