Selected Test Results

What works

  • Installation (with WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/FL\ Studio).
  • Starting.
  • Playing the demo song (with severe underruns)! Musically, no plugin, effect, etc, seemed to missing.
  • All of the tested controls. (Mixer, drum pattern, note pattern, transport, moving & closing sub-windows.)
  • All the meters, like volume, song position, time, etc.

What does not

  • The menus contain no text. They are very narrow, have all the items, but no text. So you don’t know what they are for.
  • Configuring anything. Due to the lack of menu item text.

What was not tested

[Due to the lack of menu text.]

  • Actually making a song.
  • VST et al.
  • Possibility of underrun-free playback with better settings. (Like checking if ASIO is even used.)
  • Loading/saving.

Hardware tested

HowTo / Notes

Set a virtual desktop for FL Studio to better support window managers, and workspaces.

The FL Studio UI can sometimes go haywire if you workspaces in your desktop environment - the audio engine works and events are handled (for example, space still plays/pauses the project) but the UI is frozen.
