What works

Mostly everything seems to work fine.

  • The game into starts perfectly, so no startup crashes or black screens
  • No problems with keyboard input
  • No problems with the actual gameplay

What does not

  • Using DirectX 11 seems to cause some lighting problems that cause everything to look too bright, while DirectX 10 had no such issues.
  • In Settings->Graphics the total amount of video memory appears wrong. It says 512MB, but my video card has 3072MB, dxdiag displays the correct value and after overriding it in the registry the game continued to show only 512MB (I think the game uses the value only for initial graphics configuration, but I could be wrong)
  • The leafs of some trees and some bushes didn't seem to render properly. They looked as if they were constantly switching different textures (I can't really describe it)

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • I only finished the first few missions, so I haven't played through the whole game
  • I didn't test Multiplayer

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

I've tested the game on a PC with a Xeon E5640@4GHz CPU and an AMD HD7950 GPU. Mesa 18.1.0-devel with LLVM-6.0.0 on the 4.13.0-36 kernel

Generally the game was unplayable for me: When driving outside the game ran at about 10-15 fps, but GPU load (according to Gallium HUD) was about 20% and CPU usage stayed at about 60-70% for one thread and 30-40% for the other 7 logical processors. I don't know what the problem is, but changing settings and resolution made little to no difference. That is about 5 times slower than what I get in Windows
