Starting a LAN game
What does not
Multiplayer via Internet (the game uses GameSpy which was closed in 2014). An attempt to join an Internet game crashed the application.
What was not tested
Actually playing a LAN game
I used a clean WINEPREFIX. The GOG installer should work. If you experience an "access violation" error and the installation failed, try installing with the /nogui parameter: wine setup_sw_republic_commando_220.127.116.11.exe /nogui Executing the "LaunchRC.exe" in order to start the game doesn't work. You have to execute the "SWRepublicCommando.exe" which can be found in the GameData/System folder in the installation folder. If the game still doesn't start, you may have to disable the winegstreamer.dll in winecfg (bug: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30557). However, videos won't work in the game.
