What works

Almost everything works nice. There are still 2 bugs that need to be resolved though:
13727 - in Circuitmaker 2000 cloned part tries itself to pan down the workspace,
13832 - Circuitmaker schematic does not print to a printer.
An Unixodbc ver. 2.2.12 or later is required on the system.

What does not

Direct printing from circuitmaker (bug 13832). A workaround using printing via postscript file is possible, but why not to fix this bug completely ?

Cant place components

Im on Slackware 14, with unixodbc. The mouse dissapears when placing or moving a component. Wine 1.5.13

Was having problems with the simulations again now that I wanted to reinstall CM2000. But I got it working by:

Downloading another odbc32.dll (not so good maybe, but wth).. put it in c\windows\system32\

winecfg:

Libraries Tab: Type "odbc32" in the box (without quotes), hit the Add button. Select the odbc32 entry, hit Edit.

Then change to Original (windows.. (the 2nd from above), then OK and Apply.
odbc.dll
by Daniel Gustafsson on Tuesday March 23rd 2010, 14:40
Hey, just wanted to add that I still had problems with simview.dll and analog simulation.

I did what I read here, and on other forums.. I installed unixODBC.
That made the errormsg on startup disappear, but I still got the error message when trying to do analog simulation.

I googled for 1 full evening but gave up. But then I tried this:

Programs-> Wine -> Configure Wine.

[program tab] Add program -> cirmaker.exe [ok]
select it, go to libraries tab.
Type odbc32 in the box and hit Add.

And voila, that made my analog simulations work. Hope this helps someone.
RE: odbc.dll

I followed the above advice but I still get the SimView.dll error upon trying to run an analog simulation. I am running ubuntu 10.04 with the latest wine1.3.1 and I upgraded unixodbc to 2.3.0 by downloading the src compiling and installing. Any help getting this to work would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what else as far as debug output etc I should provide but will provide such details if requested. This little program is pretty handy but is relatively useless without analog simulation.

I changed my unixodbc to 2.3.0 version and my CM2000 still works properly along with simulations as always.
Maybe try to install unixodbc from Ubuntu repositories rather than compiling it yourself ?
Previous version of unixodbc should be fine, too.

The old "SimView.DLL not properly loaded + runtime error 217 at 0003F702" error can be eliminated by installing unixODBC-2.2.12 package.
Big improvements as of 0.9.54

Wine 0.9.47
by OlekA on Monday October 22nd 2007, 4:36
Wine 0.9.47 is the best Wine version that works for my CM2000. The effect of thin lines in schematic editor still exist but doesn't bother me.
All previous glitches I wrote about PCB editor are gone :-).

Still "SimView.dll" not loading while starting schematic editor is to be fixed. If so, the CM2000 would et a gold rating from me.
Missing "File" menu

In Circuit Maker 2000 not shown File menu.
In Trax Maker show File menu.
Works 100%
by John Voltz on Wednesday July 26th 2006, 8:45
runs perfectly on Wine 0.9.17 in Windows 98 mode with Internet Explorer 6 SP1 installed (using ies4linux)

I had zero problems using it. Gold for sure.

Hello !
Nice to hear Your attempt to try the CM2000 under linux :-)

I have several questions:

Did You check simulating circuits (in schematic part of the program)?

Did You install CM2000 via Wine or use executables from Windows Cm2000 installation ?

I copied the files from my Windows drive, but the installer will likely work fine because it uses the same installer as Protel, and it works too. Yes it simulates perfectly too.

I still have problems with simulating circuits.....

1. I installed Wine 0.9.18 from source on my Slackware current,
2. I used winecfg to set it in Win98 mode
3. I installed IE6 via ies4linux
4. I copied the CM2000 directory tree from Windows installation into home/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/

Is there any other setting that might help me get all the CM2000 functionality like Yours ? (Dll override, some Fedora-specific settings, maybe places where IE6 files reside ... or other ..)????

RE: Works 100%
by Yuri Kunde Schlesner on Sunday September 17th 2006, 12:45
The program works almost perfectly, installing via wine.

Problems:
"Runtime error 217 at 0003F702" on startup, can just click OK and the program works."
Analog simulation fails with "Unable to simulate because SimView.DLL was not successfully [sic] loaded.". Digital simulation works perfectly.
Some weird windowing glitches (unmoveable and unresizeable window in the center of the workspace) that can be fixing by loading a document and repeatedly maximizing and restoring the window.
