What works

-Battlegrounds

-Questing

-Raids

-Leveling

-UI Elements

-Solo content

-Spell effects

What does not

Everything works, but some with diminished capacity than Windows native.

-Game runs at lower FPS, around 25-30 instead of 65+, but the frame rendering feels smoother (I get alot of choppy rendering on windows)

-Some graphics settings have a larger impact on preformance on Wine because it's using DX9, also, some graphics options are unable to be set to their maximum settings, for the same reason.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Didn't play every class, but multiple raids showed no weird spell effect bugs.

All other basic game elements were tested.

Hardware tested

Additional Comments

As far as instally, running and playing the game, this should have a Platinum rating, as you can run the installer, and play the game immediatly after installing a fresh Wine from any repo, and creating a fresh Wine prefix (or reusing an old one) with no issues. However.. As stated above, you will experiance a rather large FPS drop if using the D3DX graphics API, you can get nearly the same FPS as on windows if you put the client into opengl mode (close the game, edit World of Warcraft/WTF/Config.wtf, change SET gxApi "D3D9" to "Opengl") however you miss out on ALOT of the graphics settings in WoW, as they don't develop the OpenGL platform of the game very often. (You lose things like dynamic shadows, SSAO, Water reflections, Sunshafts, and high particle density, but the game will run nearly the same FPS as on Windows 7 using DX11) Because of the above mentioned problems, I give it a Bronze, as it still has no Dx11 support, and WoW is leaning very heavily on it in the nex expansion, any further graphics improvements to the game will surly be missed by Linux players because of Wine's inability to use DX11.
