Workarounds
When an area on the "canvas" fails to draw properly a simple redraw (Ctrl+R) will do the trick.
If the area that didn't draw properly is the View's title bar it is possible to force a refresh of the area by right-clicking a symbol to see the extended view and right-clicking again to collapse it.
What was not tested
Saving in formats other than .FCW and .JPEG
Font compatibility with maps drawn in Windows.
Installing other addon products not listed above (such as CD3).

Additional Comments
A note on printing (cups-pdf, default distro install): print dialog shows with CUPS PDF printer, but hangs for a minute afterwards, then finishes without problems.

When opening existing maps, you'll find that the fonts don't render the same size as on Windows.
This can be fixed by changing the font properties of the existing text in the map and unchecking the 'Use New Metrics' option. This should cause the fonts to render the same size (extremely close anyway) as they did on Windows, and they'll still display fine if you open that map in Windows.
You should obviously keep this option off for any new text you place if you want to be able to open the map in Windows and have it look the same.
