Additional Comments

The installation went without any issues but then the things getting worse: Even though you have mounted the CD (or ISO file) correctly the game will not recognize this. You can sign in with a pilot name but only multiplayer options are available for you (which is a normal behavior when no disc is inserted). To make the game work correctly you have to download the "Comanche Gold Windows 7 Fix by Kevin Bax" provided by Flyboy: http://digitality.comyr.com/flyboy/cg/downloads.html You have to replace the original executable file with the new one in the package. Now the game works and recognize your CD/ISO. This file acts more or less like a "CD Check remover" but you still need the CD (or ISO) to play the game. The rest of the instruction in the Windows 7 fix package is only important if you want to play the game without CD (it works perfectly as I tested it). This is the only method I know the run the game, and besides... on Windows 7 the game doesn't even start without this fix. For the installation I used a clean Wine 32-bit prefix. No additional libraries where added. Since fullscreen didn't worked for me I emulated an virtual desktop (resolution 640x480 or 800x600) and the game didn't mess with my screen. When changing the resolution during the game it can happen that the controls becomes inactive (you can't control your chopper), just click on the game window to solve this problem. For the joystick support: Well, my XBOX 360 Controller (Xpad) worked somehow without setting things up. Overall I never played the game with an joystick so I can not test it intensely. Overall the sound works but sometimes the sound of the chopper engine seems to hang for a couple of seconds. It can be fixed by changing the camera view but not always. Music (Ingame and Credits) don't work as the game music consists of MIDi tracks. I had no problems with additional graphic and sound mods. So I was able to play in 1024x768 and listen to new engine sounds for the Comanche.
