Additional Comments
With a standard configuration of Wine the game can not be installed and you will get the error message: "The version of Windows you are running is not supported by the DirectX files on the installation disk". Now do the following: 1. set up a clean wine 32-bit prefix (maybe that isn't necessary) 2. set your Windows version to "Windows 98" 3. run the setup on the CD and install the game Once installed the next problem occurs: the mounted CD is not recognized. Here you have to use a CD-Check remover, otherwise you can't start the game. Next problem: the music don't work. I don't know if that's a wine problem or due the NO-CD fix. I also a have version of the game which was bundled with a gaming magazine, here I didn't need a No-CD fix but the music didn't work either. However there is a way to play the music: Copy all music tracks from the CD to your hard drive, use a media player and add all tracks to your playlist, loop the playlist (shuffle the tracks if you want) and let the media player run in the background while you play the game. About the graphical issues: it happens that your guide becomes invisible once you finished a race. When your are in the velodrome (the start arena) you can still find him in the center of the map but since he is invisible you have to look for his shadow on the ground. It's a minor bug which doesn't affect the game, when you try to compete with him he will appear normally without any glitch. Maybe there are more bugs but that is anything I've found. Xbox 360 controller was recognized without problems, LT/RT buttons work. I'm using the default Xpad driver provided by Linux Mint/Ubuntu. Everything was done with clean wine 32-bit prefix. No additional libraries were added.
