What works
Install the Windows version of Steam using PlayOnLinux configured to Wine 1.7.51, then download Train Simulator. Game should start and run perfectly. You can select any train and route to drive. Game runs perfectly on a low resolution. Very minor issue with overlapping text in message boxes, but it is still readable. VERY OCCASIONALLY, the track may become invisible after loading, but quitting and restarting has solved it for me.

Additional Comments
I am using a powerful gaming computer, so I'm not sure how well it would perform on more average desktop computers, as the game is fairly demanding on resources. Proceed at your own risk before buying the game. Maintainer Edit: The disappearing track bug seems to be a Train Simulator issue and not a Wine issue. Also, fonts will display properly once True Fonts is installed.
