This software allows the user to view, edit and save embroidery designs. You can combine pre-existing embroidery designs from individual files, such as combining pictures and text. You can edit joins and splits, reduce colors, edit individual stitches, and produce gifs of the design. You can also convert various embroidery formats.
The standard version tested does not allow you to draw from scratch, nor digitize images or fonts into embroidery files. (you need to download the 'Studio' version and 'Sfumato Stitch' for that)

What works
So far, installing the x86 version on an AMD 2.6GHz machine with 2GB RAM, running Xubuntu 12.04
goes without a hitch. The software launches fine and various menus and features seem to work, though I haven't played
around with every feature yet. (I won't be the one using it, so I'm
waiting to hear cries for 'help!' if something breaks from the person I installed it for.)
What does not
Unknown - not fully tested. So far so good. Apparently, registration is not possible. I didn't have time to find a workaround and instead opted for a VM.

I'm setting
this to Silver for now simply because it isn't fully tested, but no
hiccups yet. As more testing occurs, I'll report back and if I see no
serious issues unique to the Wine environment in a few months of daily
use, I'll upgrade it to Gold.
