What works

With the right libraries and fonts installed (see HOWTO below), everything works perfectly.

I only run a few tests on the main situations: exercices, games and tutor presentations with animations.

Additional Comments

First, I've installed Wine (5.0-3ubuntu1) and Winetricks (0.0+20200412-1) from the Ubuntu Software.

Then, using Winetricks (just execute "winetricks" from the command line) I installed:

.NET 3.5:

--- Winetricks -> Select the default wineprefix -> Install a Windows DLL or component -> dotnet35 / MS .NET 3.5;

- MS Windows GDI+: 

--- Winetricks -> Select the default wineprefix -> Install a Windows DLL or component -> gdiplus / MS GDI+;

- MS Fonts:

--- Winetricks -> Select the default wineprefix -> Install a font -> corefonts / MS Arial, Courier, Time fonts;

- Install the Chess Tutor:

--- Winetricks -> Select the default wineprefix -> Run uninstaller -> Click on the "install" button and selected the SetupChessTutor.exe file.

Without the MS Fonts installed, some words looks a bit messy. But with the MS Fonts, all worked perfectly :) 

To do all this, I've just followed the HowTo that already were available here.

I've tested before with Wine's mono 5.0.0, but the words of the menu were truncated. But, as the menu bar is not essential to the game, it's possible to use this way.

Required:

• MS .NET (or Mono, see below): Used MS .NET 2.0 SP2 (winetricks: dotnet20sp2), though other versions might also work.
  Update 2017-02-07: User olekike reported problems with .NET 2.0 SP2 (frequent crashes during startup) and .NET versions 4.5 and 4.6 (unable to install). .NET versions 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 worked without problems.
  Update 2020-04-28: Felipe Windmoller reported that Mono 5.0.0 can be used instead of .NET. With Mono, the words of the menu may look truncated, but the menu bar is not essential to the game. With .NET 3.5 (dotnet35) in combination with the two recommends below everything worked perfectly.

Recommended:

• MS Windows GDI+: Improves graphics (winetricks: gdiplus and/or gdiplus_winxp).
• MS fonts: MS Arial, Courier and Times (winetricks: corefonts).

Note: If you use the MS Windows (native) GDI+ instead of Wine's own built-in library, the MS fonts become a requirement.
