Additional Comments

In fact I started this on Wine-Staging 2.17 and completed the game on 2.19. I installed "Origin Legacy" client (on heavily used 32bit prefix resembling an almost full Win installation which, I know, is not

considered optimal). I moved files from an original windows installation and let the client hash-check and completed the installation on Linux. I also copied over the settings folder (My Documents\Bioware) and in this way I didn't have to launch the game on a virtual wine desktop. It automatically started in my native screen resolution. Just once, halfway in my playthrough, my (wine) settings folder got somehow corrupted. I re-did the whole thing (copying settings folders) and after that everything went alright. Origin on wine imported a rudimentary initial save made on Windows from cloud. I played the rest of the game with cloud-saving disabled. Funny thing: the game looked somewhat better on Linux. I couldn't get that "film grain" effect on Windows 10 no matter what... Something wrong with newer nvidia drivers I guess. With all
these small quirks I'd rate my experience of the game as definitely "platinum".

System: Intel i5-7500, 16GB DDR4, Nvidia GTX 1050 ti.

HOWTO

Get audio to work

Edit "Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect/Config/BIOEngine.ini"
Add the following under the "[ISACTAudio.ISACTAudioDevice]" section:

DeviceName=Generic Software
UseEffectsProcessing=False

Ensure "Hardware Audio" is turned off in Sound settings in game

To get the MEUITM installer to work

A custom MassEffectModder.exe must be suppliedThis is seemingly due to it using functions not fully implemented in wine/mono
A hacky, usable version can be found here: https://github.com/DougTy/Mass...

Occasional "rendering exception" error while playing MEIUTM requires your game's binary be large address aware.
MassEffect.exe can be patched using this tool: https://www.techpowerup.com/fo...
Make a backup before patching!
