Currently the only way to get it working is by using a 32 bit wineprefix, sorry, I also heard that replacing the videos with 0byte files might work if you want to try it, I haven't, but you can imagine that isn't ideal either.

Installing VC1 codec from KB942423 when running it using wine fails
by Zachary J on Thursday August 31st 2017, 9:33
As noted by previous submitters, windowsmedia-kb942423-x86-intl.exe must be installed to play the movies. It can be downloaded from Windows support site by searching for KB942423 (it's an issue in Windows XP and others, not just wine/Linux).
If the exe file doesn't work with wine (it didn't for me because it complained that it was already installed or something), here is a workaround using a command-line terminal:

1. cabextract windowsmedia-kb942423-x86-intl.exe
2. mv wvc1dmod.dll c:/windows/system32/
3. regsvr32 wvc1dmod.dll

Be sure to override wmvcore.dll and wmasf.dll.

Hello.

Could you please elaborate on this ?

1. cabextract windowsmedia-kb942423-x86-intl.exe (Worked and I got a dir with few files extracted)
2. mv wvc1dmod.dll c:/windows/system32/ (Seems this worked too as I copied this file to a C Drive where RE is installed)
3. regsvr32 wvc1dmod.dll (What does this mean?)

Be sure to override wmvcore.dll and wmasf.dll. (Same here, what is that?)

EDIT.

I think I get the step 3, but I do get an error: image.ibb.co/hUiiwH/Screenshot_20180204_172533.png
So how to pass steps 3 and "Be sure to override wmvcore.dll and wmasf.dll."
Your technique Finally Worked Great

I have tried several hours to get this game to run. I would get the Capcom logo then a black screen. Your directions worked like a champ. I was trying to install wmp10 on a 64 bit prefix and it wouldnt work. So I tried your method with 32 bit wine version 2.11 staging and it cranked up perfectly. I also put vmcore.dll in the root of the game folder.
Thank you
