Tax Act Plus 2015 (paid version) tested. Program starts and initializes correctly after running Winetricks IE8. Menus at the top of the screen display correctly. Help menu on the right of screen displays correctly.
What does not
Q&A dialog window text is distorted: each successive line is shifted to the right, so that text that should be vertically aligned is aligned on a 45 degree angle across the screen. The skewed lines wrap horizontally.
What was not tested
Because the above problem makes the program difficult to use, no further testing was performed.
This copy of Tax Act 2015 Plus was initially installed early in 2016 under Wine 1.9.3. Installation and all program functions that I tested under that Wine version worked correctly. I did not test electronic filing, nor did I use the help system. I upgraded to Wine 1.9.21 and the bug described above appeared. Downgrading to Wine 1.9.7 or below is a workaround to restore correct operation. I would rate the program Gold with Wine 1.9.7 or less. I also tested with an earlier version of Puppy Linux (5.2.5). The results were the same.
