There is an issue with a blue/white fog that is present everywhere except for just around the player (~1m radius) which makes it really difficult to play the game since you cannot see anything. This issue exists in windows as well and seems to be prevalent with nvidia cards.
The only known fix is to update the game to a later version (1.4 works fine) and the issue is gone.
