What works

Analog, Color, Dfine, Silver, Viveza

Except for Dfine I have had no trouble working with 16-bit-colours.

There's python script (shellout for gimp) that can integrate the Nik programs into the gimp workflow. Color and Viveza don't work for me that way (but standalone they are fine). I don't know why.

What does not

Saving the pictures can go wrong, in which case I've often had success by converting from, say, jpg to png. Tip: once the picture is loaded, save immediately to see if it works. Otherwise you might lose a lot of work.
