Tested with wine 2.9-staging, Nvidia Geforce GTX1080 with 381.22 driver, resolution about 4k windowed.

Installed vcrun2012 with winetricks, not sure if Steam's ROTTR installation installed something else.

Black screen after launching a new game (Workaround)

NOTE: This workaround is no longer needed on Wine 2.18 Staging or later.

Workaround

Set msvcr110 to native, built-in (or just native) in winecfg (Original comment by scix)
You don't need to install vcrun2012 (winetricks). By default, ROTTR installs its own versions of required dll library files (msvcr110.dll & msvcp110.dll).
